Biography
Xu Bing (1955 – ) is an artist and professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing (CAFA), where he graduated in 1981 and has since remained as a teacher. Widely recognized as a leading conceptual artist in the fields of linguistics and semiotics today, he continuously expands the boundaries of art with his groundbreaking creative works. In 1999, he received a MacArthur Fellowship, the highest creative talent award in the United States. In 2004, he won the first Artes Mundi Prize. In 2018, he was honored with the Xu Bei Hong-Art Creation Award by the CAFA. His work has been exhibited at various art institutions such as the National Art Museum of China, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, the British Museum, London, the Venice Biennale, and have been widely collected.
