Biography
Wei Jiujie, born in 1984 in Chongqing, graduated with both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. He is now a professional artist and has held solo exhibitions at Liao Liao Art, Today Art Museum, and Tokyo Gallery. His works have participated in major art exhibitions such as the “China Contemporary Ink Yearbook” and the “New Lyrical Art” exhibition. The “Records of the Grand Historian” series is one of his representative works. In his view, all history is subjective. On one hand, he doubts everything he perceives; on the other hand, he attempts to construct a “hypothetical” world within his own mind, a hypothesis that appears absurd and ironic in itself.
